Bio

Cynthia Vandermark Hoag

Cynthia began her Tai Chi journey in 1994, at Trinity College after having some major life changes.  She was a ballet dancer as a child, and looked for ways to continue with artistic movement.  Tai Chi was the perfect fit, and she continued on to become a lifetime practitioner of this graceful martial art through the instruction of Master Malee Khow, and other proficient teachers.  In 2012, Cynthia became a Certified National Judge and then in 2014 went to Chengdu, China with the U.S. Tai Chi Team to compete in the 1st World Tai Chi Championships.  Cynthia competed using the Yang Style 24 Form and the 32 Movement Competition Sword form. This was the turning point that led Cynthia to co-found Foundations Tai Chi with her husband George. They then changed the name to Dragon Rising Wellness, so the business could include more modalities, such as Reiki & Pranic Healing.

Our Philosophy

Our classroom instruction is relaxed and informative - imparting pertinent information while allowing the students to experience where their balance points are. With over 25 years of Tai Chi and QiGong experience, we are able to help students find that special flow of form, Tai Chi wisdom and inner balance.

Over the past few years, we have incorporated a guided meditation at the end of class, as we would like for the students to leave the class feeling as though they had just attained the feeling of "flow and self awareness" that comes with many years of practice. We believe this is key to assisting the student feel relaxed and connected to spirit.

Our healing sessions focus on the comfort and respect of the client, ensuring safety, integrity and well-being.
